1. Café 1998
Muar is filled with cafes and one of the recommendation would be 1998 cafe. At the road of Jalan Dato Haji Hassan, it used to have a non eye-spotting house, but through some renovation, it has became his own 1998 cafe style.

The concept of the cafe is about simple spring concept. Simple signboard, matching with color of black and white, makes people even curious what's inside the cafe. Mostly the furnitures and decorations are mainly made by wood.
They have a special barista, the one who brew the coffee is actually and uncle. According to him, he used to be a motorcycle mechanic. Just by looking him doing the coffee art, is really detailed.

We ordered "Little Bear Molted Cake", the chocolate cake is filled with chocolate larva garnish, it's very delicious and relaxing to watch at.
The range of prices for desserts are between RM11to RM15, it is a little bit expensive, but I think the environment and amazing gorgeous dessert worth th price.

2. Otak Char Koay Teow
Getting bored of just eating otak-otak in Muar? You must try this special combination of otak-otak and char keuy teow.

Two slices of otak-otak and fresh clams fried together with the kuey teow made up for a unique flavour and delicious taste. Theowner is so good at cooking up this wonder dish, he is able to make 10 dishes of Char Kuey Teow at a time all while maintaining its standard!

3. Ah Teck Chwee Kueh

Chwee Kueh (水粿 – ‘Water Cake’) is a food that is relatively non-existent in the northern and center region of Malaysia. To get a taste of this fast-disappearing snack that is usually eaten for breakfast, you need to head south to Johor or Singapore for the best ones.

*Fyi, there are three parts to Chwee Kueh:
- Steamed rice cake
- Minced preserved radish (which is called "chai po")
- Chili sauce
One of the few standing Chwee Kueh stalls in Muar could be found at Jalan Yahya, just in front of the Toto shop.

4. Snack Food Rojak

How can we forget snack food Rojak when talking about food in Muar? Mr. Ong Rojak is located at Tanjung, and its very popular among the locals.

- In 1965, the owner was selling normal rojak using motorcycle
- The main customers were students, selling snack food
- The owner decided to add snacks into rojak to satisfied students customer

6. Tam Chiak Khui Chaozhou rice dumplings

This stall has a history of 50 years and passed three generations. There are few different fillings of Chaozhou rice dumplings. It is located at the Tam Chiak Kui, its a food street. The Chaozhou rice dumplings are made by glutinous rice and wrapped in green bean paste.
*There are several types of dumplings:
- Char Siu on salted glutinous rice
- dumplings "black rice dumplings" with stuffed with black sesame in the glutinous rice skin and wrapped in green bean paste.
